Semaglutide B12 FAQ
- What is semaglutide b12 & how does it work? It works by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which helps regulate blood sugar levels and reduce appetite. When blood sugar levels are high, semaglutide b12 signals the pancreas to release insulin. Insulin helps move sugar from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. Taking compounded semaglutide and vitamin B12 may enhance its effects, as B12 helps maintain energy levels and supports nervous system health. This results in decreased appetite and encourages weight loss.
- Who is a candidate? The primary candidates are individuals who are obese (with a BMI of 30 or higher) or overweight (with a BMI of 27 or higher) and have at least one weight-related condition such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.
- Are there any side effects? Some people may experience gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, diarrhea, or constipation. These side effects are usually mild and tend to improve over time.
- How do I get started? You will need to schedule your first consultation with Dr. Talbot. Patients not already established under her care can book on our monthly late night. From there our staff will instruct you on your next steps to getting scheduled for your injections.
- How often do I need injections? Injections are given weekly in our office.
- How long will I need to be on treatment? This can vary depending on BMI and medical history.
- What happens if I miss a dose? If you are within one week of a missed dose and your next dose, you can either skip that week’s dose and wait until the following week’s dose or take the dose as soon as you realize it has been missed. Please call our office if have missed your dose to get your updated dosing schedule. Missing a dose can potentially result in reducing the next dose to avoid unwanted side effects depending on the length between doses.
- What happens if I end treatment and want to start again? You will start over on the lowest dose to avoid unwanted side effects.
- Does going on this treatment mean I am also under medical care with Dr. Talbot? Not exactly. Although you will be under Dr. Talbot’s supervision, any further medical-based questions will need to be addressed by your primary care physician. If you would like to become a patient of Dr. Talbot’s, please ask for New Patient Forms.
- How much will it cost? The cost will start at $50 for the base dose and will increase as the dose increases.
- Will insurance cover my treatment? For non-established patients of Dr. Talbot, insurance will not be filed. This will be a self-pay treatment plan. For established patients, insurance may be filed pending approved diagnoses.
